Chocolate cheese fried yellow plantain is an Indonesia dessert/snack. It’s topped with chocolate sprinkles, shredded cheddar cheese, and sweetened condensed milk. The sweet and legit taste is very popular among Indonesian people.
This is one of my favorite snacks that simple and practical to make. I personally prefer this chocolate cheese fried yellow plantain than the fresh banana. Plantain and banana are quite similar. We Indonesian call them both the same name, which is pisang. Plantain has a higher content of starch than the banana and better cooked before eaten.
In this recipe we serve the fried yellow plantain with chocolate sprinkles, shredded cheddar cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Maybe it sounds crazy and weird, but in Indonesia, cheddar cheese normally used in sweet foods. Especially combined with chocolate sprinkles and sweetened condensed milk. The savoriness from cheese complements the sweetness from chocolate and sweetened condensed milk.
There is one food stall near Bandung Station in Indonesia that sells this food and I think it’s the most delicious fried yellow plantain I’ve ever tried. So I tried to make it at home and the results are not much different and very very tasty.
