Ingredients of Fried Gourami with Sweet and Sour Sauce

  • 2 lb Gourami fish separate the bones and meat: you can replace gourami fish with other fish, such as dori or tuna
  • 1 Lemon juice
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp White pepper
  • 2 tsp Mushroom powder
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • Cooking oil

Sauce

  • 2 clove Garlic minced
  • ½ Onion
  • ½ Green bell pepper
  • ½ cup Pineapple cut into small pieces
  • 3 Curly red pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 4 tbsp Tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Chili sauce
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Pepper
  • ½ tsp Mushroom powder
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp water

How to Make Fried Gourami with Sweet and Sour Sauce

First, pierce the back of the head to the tail with a skewer until the fish’s body curves. meanwhile, then cut meat into cubes-sized.

Then marinate the fish bone and meat with lime juice, salt, and pepper. let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.

In a medium bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and stir until evenly mixed.

After 15 minutes, take it out of the fridge and add ¼ cup of dry mixture and 2 tbsp water to the marinated fish. Stir until combined.

Next, put the cubed fish one by one in a dry mixture. make sure the fish is evenly spreadly coated. do it in batches.

After that, heat oil in a pan until it’s very hot, and fry the bone and meat fish until golden brown in several batches. then, remove and drain.

Sauce

First, heat oil in a pan over medium heat, saute the garlic and sliced onion until slightly softened.

Add green bell pepper and curly red pepper, then cook briefly, add tomato sauce, chili sauce, and oyster sauce, and stir until combined.

Then, add seasoning salt, pepper, mushroom powder, and brown sugar. stir again and pour water and pineapple into the sauce mixture. cook until boiled.

After that, add the cornstarch solution then cook until the sauce thickens turn off the heat.

Last, arrange the fish bone on a plate, arrange the fish meat on top, and drizzle with sweet and sour sauce.
