Shrimp and Noodles
I have a question with the answers too. I had made some pasta recipe but turn out my friends here love the most when it comes to shrimp. why do shrimp and pasta or noodles really complete each other flavor?
We all love shrimp, especially spicy garlic shrimp. We all also love noodles of any kind why not put them together as one dish? More than that,
Here’s Why
These are some make-sense reasons why shrimp is the perfect company for noodles (any kind) including pasta;
- Flavor: Shrimp has a naturally sweet and delicate flavor that pairs wonderfully with pasta. It adds a subtle seafood taste that enhances the overall taste profile of the dish. I mean shrimp has no intimidating taste and is not really fishy. For me, It feels obvious we cook pasta with octopus or squids. Moreover, shrimps adapt well to different cooking techniques and absorb the flavors of the accompanying ingredients.
- Texture: Shrimp has a unique texture that adds a pleasant contrast to the softness of noodles. It’s tender and slightly firm texture provides a delightful bite, making each mouthful more interesting and satisfying.
- Visual appeal: Shrimp adds visual appeal to dishes with its vibrant pink color and attractive shape. It makes the dish look more enticing and appetizing. Not to forget shrimp also cooks quickly, It can be added to the pasta during the last few minutes of cooking, ensuring that it remains tender and juicy without being overcooked.
- Protein-rich: Shrimp is an excellent source of lean protein. When combined with pasta, which is primarily a carbohydrate, it creates a balanced and nutritious meal. The protein in shrimp helps keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer.

- Dark soy sauce; Dark soy sauce is a thicker and sweeter variety of soy sauce. It adds a rich and slightly sweet flavor, as well as a dark color to the dish and also has a thicker texture, it also give a little darker pretty color to the dish
- Rice vinegar; is a mild and slightly sweet vinegar made from fermented rice. It adds a tangy and acidic element to balance the flavors

Shrimp
- Shrimp; Make sure to use fresh juicy shrimp, you can buy a pre-peeled shrimp to

- Black pepper; adds mild heat and a hint of spiciness to the shrimp,
- Butter; Butter is melted and used to sear the shrimp, adding richness and enhancing their flavor through the cooking process.
Steps to Make Shrimp Garlic Chili Oil Noodles
Let’s start with preparing the shrimp. In a small bowl, combine the shrimp with a sprinkle of salt and a dash of black pepper. Stir the seasoning until it is well combined with the shrimp, ensuring that each piece is coated.
Then, heat a pan over medium-high heat and melt a knob of butter. Once the butter has melted and the pan is hot, carefully add the seasoned shrimp. Sear the shrimp for approximately 2 minutes on one side, then flip them over and sear for another 2 minutes on the other side. This will give the shrimp a beautiful golden color and enhance their flavor. Once cooked, transfer the succulent shrimp to a separate bowl and set them aside.
Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once the water is boiling, carefully add the wheat noodles to the pot. Allow the noodles to cook for approximately 2-3 minutes or until they reach the desired level of tenderness.
Remember, Avoid overcooking the noodles as they will continue to soften when mixed with the other ingredients. Once cooked, drain the noodles and rinse them under cold water three times to stop the cooking process and cool them down.
Mix everything
Now it’s time to bring all the flavors together. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp, finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, a sprinkle of chili flakes for a touch of heat, a drizzle of soy sauce, a splash of dark soy sauce, a dash of rice vinegar for a tangy note, and a pinch of salt and sugar to balance the flavors. Mix all the ingredients until they are well combined.
To elevate the dish, we will add a final touch of aromatic hot oil. Heat a separate pan until it becomes super hot, then carefully pour the hot oil over the noodle mixture. Be cautious as the oil may sizzle and splatter. This step helps to infuse the noodles with a rich and fragrant flavor. Mix everything together once again to ensure that the flavors are evenly distributed throughout the dish.
To garnish, sprinkle some additional chopped green onions over the Shrimp Garlic Chili Oil Noodles. This adds a fresh and vibrant touch to the dish while enhancing its visual appeal.
Now, sit back, relax, and savor the delightful combination of flavors in each mouthful. Bon appétit!
