As for the sweet ones, it usually has a filling such as cheese, chocolate, sliced jackfruit, or sliced banana. This time, I made it with cheese filling.
In Indonesia, the original sweet spring roll filling is banana. So, we call it pisang aroma. The addition of the word aroma is because the smell of this snack has additional. For example, if the spring roll is filled with cheese, it will not only smell the cheese but other scents such as vanilla.

Make spring roll wrapper at home instead of buying them
I made these spring roll wrappers at home because I wanted to use the left ingredients in the kitchen. You can make this spring roll at home because the ingredients are easy to find in your kitchen. In addition, by making it yourself, the price is cheaper and get more results.
Besides, for those of you who are not close to an Asian grocery store, it will be quite difficult to find this spring roll wrapper. So, making it at home is the best way. Moreover, you can save a lot of these spring roll wrappers. You can keep the wrapper for other recipe creations.

These ingredients are for two recipes; Homemade Spring Roll Wrapper & Sweet Cheddar Cheese Spring Rolls.
For Spring Roll Wrapper, you need flour, water, and salt. With three simple ingredients, you can make a multifunctional wrapper. You can create some creative recipes for the fillings.
For Sweet Cheddar Cheese Spring Rolls, prepare Cheddar Cheese, Sugar, Condense Milk, Butter, Flour, and Water. In Indonesia, cheddar cheese has a bit of sweet taste. Therefore, the result of the spring roll is sweeter. It might be sweeter because the cheese has a different process of milk. So, I think the cheddar cheese in your country is saltier. If you want the exact taste with keju aroma, you can buy Indonesian cheddar cheese.
How to Make Sweet Cheddar Cheese Spring Rolls
Spring Rolls
Whisk all the ingredients until well mixed.
Strain the mixture into another bowl to avoid lumps of dough.
In a low heat, heat the pan then apply the dough to the pan using a heatproof brush. Apply 3 layer so the spring rolls is not too thin.
Cook until the sides of the spring roll wrappers are dry on the edges, about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the dough that has been cooked by pulling it slowly. Place it on the plate and keep spring roll wrapper covered under a damp tea towel.
Do it with the rest mixture.
Sweet Cheddar Cheese Spring Rolls
Make flour mixture: combine 1 tsp flour and 1 tbsp water on a small bowl. Set aside
Cut the cheddar cheese into 16 long sticks.
Spread thin layer of butter onto the tip of the spring roll.
Sprinkle some sugar on top of the butter then place cheddar cheese on top of it.
Drizzle the condense milk over the cheddar cheese.
Roll the wrapper over and continue until everything rolled up and tucked inside.
Apply flour mixture to seal the spring rolls.
Heat cooking oil over medium heat.
Fry the sweet cheddar cheese spring rolls until nice and golden.
After the sweet cheddar cheese spring rolls is cooked, rest it on a cooling rack to remove excess oil.
Serve while the sweet cheddar cheese spring rolls still warm.

- Adjust the sweet base on your preference.
- Roll the wrappers tightly and properly to minimize the leaking of the melted cheese. You can also freeze the cut cheese for about 10 to 15 minutes before assembly and frying.
- Fry at optimal temperature, no more than 180⁰C. The spring roll will burn outside and not melt inside if it is too hot. If it is too low, it will absorb a lot more grease.
- Do not overcrowd the pan and fry in batches as needed.
- If you want to store it, you can freeze it for about 1 to 2 hours or until firm. After that, store into resealable bags or airtight containers in the freezer.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve cheese sticks in glasses and top with chocolate sauce or sweetened condensed milk chocolate.
- If you want a sour taste sensation, you can make the strawberry sauce by mashing some strawberries with sugar water and then filtering it.
- Add grated cheese on top of the cheese stick as a compliment.
- If you want to store cheese sticks after frying, wait for them to cool, and then store them in an airtight jar.
