Beef potato croquettes are Indonesian fried potato patties. people call beef potato croquettes as “perkedel kentang“. Kentang means potato. Actually, the origin of perkedel comes from Dutch “frikadeller” during the Dutch colonial period in Indonesia. But Indonesian people find it difficult to pronounce frikadeller. So we change it to perkedel.
Potato – ½ kg Potato – 45 g Cheddar cheese – ½ tsp Salt – ½ tsp White pepper – ½ tsp Garlic powder Beef Patty – 400 g Ground beef – ½ tsp Salt – ½ tsp White pepper – ½ tsp Garlic powder Final Parts – 4 slice Mozzarella cheese – 100 g Flour – 1 Egg – 150 g Bread crumbs
Potato 1. Cut each potato into 8 parts. 2. Fry the potatoes until nice and golden, but not too dry. 3. Place the fried potatoes into a bowl, then mash it with a whisk until smooth. 4. Add dry seasoning and shredded cheddar cheese into mash potato. Mix it then set aside.
Beef Patty 1. Mix ground beef with dry seasoning. 2. Divide into 4 parts then make it into a beef patty. 3. Fry the beef patties until both side slightly brownish. 4. After the beef patties are cooked, rest it on a cooling rack to remove excess oil.
Beef Potato Croquettes 1. Divide mash potato into 4 parts. 2. Flatten into ½ cm thick. 3. Place beef patty and mozzarella cheese above it. 4. Then wrap it into mashed potato. 5. Coat the beef potato croquettes respectively with flour mix, egg wash and then bread crumbs. 6. In a pan fry, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat, about 170°C/340°F. 7. Fry the beef potato croquettes until nice and golden. 8. After the beef potato croquettes is cooked, rest it on a cooling rack to remove excess oil. 9. Serve with ketchup and mayonnaise.
