Ready to cook a quick fancy dinner? yes, this Garlic butter shrimp pasta is so creamy, has rich flavoring, and 20 minutes prep only!
Local Seafood market always the best
Time to visit the beach. usually, near the beach, there is always a local market. they sell seafood, of course, the fresh seafood, or the instant chips, and canned one. I am so happy to see the sea scenery after a very long time can not visit the beach because of the covid-19. plus, my location is quite far from the beach.
so, when I got the chance, I am gonna optimize it haha. take an example, look what I brought at home? fresh seafood contains shrimp, little and big ones, fish, kerupuk udang (fish chips). I can’t stop taking my eyes from seeing the big crabs that look tempting, but sadly I can not yet bring them on my way home. Moreover, to handle and cook living fresh crab, is a much-needed effort, so thank you, next next.
as soon as I arrived home, I didn’t feel tired at all because I am so excited to cook the shrimp first. I wish you can see the fresh shrimp in my hand. On my way, I’ve been thinking about what food I should cook and looking for some inspiration on the internet. I have two options which are sour and spicy shrimp, and scampi. Finally, scampi looks so much better and simplest to cook.
What is scampi?
Garlic butter shrimp pasta, also known as scampi, is a delicious meal featuring shrimp on a bed of tender fettuccine.
When you see this food you must be thinking this is when you have your candlelight fancy dinner right? Those menus are always served in restaurants and we know that something more pricey…
Chill, you can make it home with a better flavor. Make this recipe for dinner in only 20 minutes! This shrimp scampi is A seafood dish made with garlic, butter, shrimp, and topped with parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon. recipe makes the type of meal that looks fancy and tastes elegant, but it’s impossibly easy to make. looks so complicated while the truth is so simple but turn out with the great flavor of course!
Shrimp and pasta are two things that make it so easy to fall in love with. Maybe, you find it with garlic butter prawn pasta or garlic butter shrimp pasta. prawn and shrimp sometimes give us trouble and confusion, are they the same?
Shrimp vs Prawn, what’s the difference?
As I surfed on the internet this question frequently appears. and honestly, I don’t know the answer until I researched and got the answer.
Well, we’re here to tell you here are why;
the name of shrimp and prawn. In the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, “prawn” is the general term used to describe both true prawns and shrimp. Commonwealth countries and Ireland tend to use “prawn” more frequently.
Meanwhile, in North America and American, they used shrimp much more frequently, while the word “prawn” is most often used to describe larger species or big size shrimp.
To conclude, prawns are used in the UK and Commonwealth countries, and shrimp are used in American and other countries. (please do correct me If I’m wrong)
Next, the difference is located in their anatomical body. The main anatomical difference between prawns and shrimp is their body form. In shrimp, the thorax overlaps the head and the abdomen. But in prawns, each segment overlaps the segment below it. Because of this, prawns are unable to bend their bodies sharply the way shrimp can.
Well, I’m not gonna discuss more because it is getting intense and too biological, hope that helps you, friends.
let’s get to the recipe. shall we?
The ingredients of Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta
- Fettuccine I like making this dish with long pasta such as spaghetti or linguini, this to add slurpy sensation ( you know what I mean), but you can use whatever you have to hand. For alternative, short pasta such as shells and penne.
- Shrimp You can use fresh or frozen shrimp. However, you will need to remove the shells and keep the tails on. As a result, the job will be easier if you’re using fresh shrimp. You need to peel them and devein the water.
- clove Garlic I personally use fresh garlic But, for the sake of convenience, a jar of pre-minced garlic out of a jar it is fine to, This dish is a simple one with a few ingredients, use fresh garlic if you want them to shine.
- Parmesan Cheese. the creamy and rich flavour come from this cheese.
- Butter garlic butter shrimp demands the best quality butter to make best taste.
- Juice of Lemon and Lemon Zest, for reducing the fishy taste from the shrimp. More than that, it added some freshness and little bit acidity.
- Cooking Oil for cooking.
- Seasoning – Salt and black pepper to taste are all I use today. the flavour from shrimp and other ingredient already pop out, so you only need a little simple seasoning
- Parsley– Fresh and chopped up fine to be sprinkled liberally on top of our finished dish.
How to peel and clean shrimp
It is better for you to use fresh shrimp, fresh shrimp will make easier jobs to do because the shell is not a hardener. Removing the head of a shrimp isn’t difficult to do and the shrimp will usually have more flavor. This is also why I leave the tails on. Plus, tail-on shrimp makes for a nicer presentation.
How to quickly clean and devein shrimp
- Put the shrimp in a large bowl or pot and place in the sink.
- Hold the peeled shrimp in one hand and a small, sharp knife in the other.
- Make a shallow slit along the center of the shrimp along the back.
- Lift out the black stringy-looking part with your knife, then wipe the knife on a towel. If there’s no vein visible, move on to the next shrimp. and done, repeat until all your shrimp are clean.

An actual “prawn” has a tail more like a lobster! Their texture and taste are also more similar to a lobster than a shrimp. Absolutely my favorite seafood! Well worth looking for and giving them a try…
