Fruit yogurt soup or sup buah is an Indonesian iced fruit dessert. This fruit yogurt soup made of dice fruits mixed with ice cube and yogurt. This dessert is so popular in Indonesia. Especially during Ramadhan people make or buy this dessert for iftar.
Actually the one that very popular in Indonesia doesn’t use yogurt and yakult, they only use sweetened condensed milk and water. I used yogurt and yakult because I like this dessert to be a refreshing sweet and sour taste.
In case you are confused as why this dessert called soup, I am confused, too! It’s not cooked in heat like any other soup. If we want to find the reasons, I think it’s because the composition of this dessert is reminded of classic chicken soup and serve in a bowl.
The type of fruits I used in this dessert are various. You can add any available fruits and as many as you like. In this dessert I used mango, strawberry, pineapple, melon, dragon fruit, and blueberry. Cut the fruits into bite sized pieces except the blueberry.
For the soup I mix plain yogurt, sweet condensed milk and yakult into a bowl then refrigerate for 3 hours. Just in case you don’t know yakult, yakult is sweetened probiotik milk beverage.
Put all the cut of fruits into a bowl, you can add basil seed or jelly if you like. Mix the chilled yogurt soup into the bowl. Fruits yogurt soup is ready to serve!
Fruit yogurt soup can be your summer drink list. Wanna try it?
