What does no churn means?
No churn means you don’t need fancy and extra equipment to make this ice cream. We use an electric hand mixer or stand mixer to blend the ingredients especially the whip cream. You can whip it by your hand, but it need some extra energy.
The texture of the no-churn ice cream also different with the ice cream made in an ice cream maker. The texture is more custard-like, creamier, and lingers just a little bit longer on the palette. Almost more like a gelato than ice cream. No complaints here

A traditional ice cream recipe is made using an ice cream maker. The results are wonderful, but it requires a complete multi-step process. You must freeze the bowl, make the custard, chill it, churn it, then freeze it.
This no-churn recipe takes the same approach with one key step – homemade whipped cream. Once you reach stiff peaks, all that’s left is to gently fold it into a sweetened chocolate mixture. Then simply chill, set, scoop, and enjoy!
How to make no-churn chocolate ice cream:
In a bowl, mix well sweet condensed milk with cocoa powder. Set aside. For oreo cookies, separated the sweet creme filling from the cookies. Crush the cookies using meat tenderizing or rolling pin. Set aside.
In a stainless bowl, whisk cold heavy cream until soft peak. Fold chocolate mixture and whipped cream until evenly distributed.
Add crushed oreo then mix well. Pour the ice cream mixture into a food container. Freeze the ice cream overnight.
Scoop the ice cream and place it into an ice cream glass. Garnish the ice cream with chocolate sticks, oreo, cherry, and grated white chocolate. Enjoy!

Why do we use sweetened condensed milk?
Besides, it gives a sweet taste, it becomes a great thickener. It reduces the formation of ice crystals. So, the texture will be smoother and creamier.
Can you make it vegan or dairy free?
Yes. You can change the ingredients with almond milk and coconut condensed milk. Find coconut condensed milk in the Asia grocery store if you can’t find it in at usual grocery store.

No-Churn Chocolate Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 2 cup Heavy cream
- 1 can Sweet condensed milk
- ½ cup Cocoa powder
- 4 Oreo optional
- 2 Maraschino cherries optional
- 3 Chocolate stick optional
- 1 tbsp White chocolate shavings optional
Instructions
