Ingredients of Garlic Butter Cheeseburger Roll Up

  • Ground Beef: I recommend you to use lean ground beef because it is a healthier choice of ground beef that contains less fat and calories, but still provides protein and nutrients. Mine was regular beef, and it leaves a puddle of fat in the muffin tins.
  • Garlic Powder: Adds a subtle garlic aroma that blends into the beef without overpowering it. Perfect for seasoning quickly and evenly.
  • Onion Powder: Brings in a mild sweetness and depth of flavor, mimicking the taste of sautéed onions in a traditional burger.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: The secret ingredient for that savory, slightly tangy “umami” kick. It makes the beef taste more like a real burger patty. (Make sure you’re using a halal-certified version.)
  • Salt and Pepper: Essential seasonings that balance all the flavors in the filling.
  • Cheddar Cheese, shredded: a tasty addition to the roll-ups that provides a creamy and melty texture, and can be customized with various cheese types to suit personal preferences. You can also use shredded cheese if you prefer.
  • Mozzarella Cheese, shredded: Known for its gooey stretch! Adding mozzarella with cheddar makes the filling extra cheesy and satisfying.
  • Flour Tortillas: For a healthier option, Soft and flexible wraps that hold everything together. Once baked, they crisp up slightly while keeping the cheesy beef sealed inside.
  • Unsalted Butter, melted: The base for the garlic butter topping. It will make Compound butter. This fancy condiment is really just Unsalted butter mixed with garlic and a little seasoning. It adds moisture to the burgers and gives them a gourmet touch. You can also use this compound butter to make your own garlic bread.

Let’s Make Garlic Butter Cheeseburger Roll Up

First, gather all your ingredients so everything is within reach. Preheat your oven to 375℉ (190℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will make cleanup easier and ensure your roll-ups don’t stick. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until it’s browned and crumbly—about 7–10 minutes. You want the beef cooked through but still juicy.

When the beef is ready, sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well so the flavors coat every piece of meat. Let it cook for another minute, then remove from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. This step prevents the tortillas from getting soggy when you roll them up.

While the beef mixture cools, prepare the garlic butter topping. In a small bowl, mix the melted unsalted butter with minced garlic. Stir until evenly combined, then set aside. The smell alone will make you hungry!

Lay one flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spoon a portion of the beef mixture across the center, then sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese for a perfect cheesy balance. Roll the tortilla up tightly, making sure the seam is tucked underneath. Repeat with the remaining tortillas until all the filling is used.

Place the roll-ups seam side down on your prepared baking sheet. Use a pastry brush (or the back of a spoon) to generously coat each tortilla with the garlic butter mixture. This step gives them that irresistible flavor and crispy golden finish.

Slide the tray into the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted. You might see some cheese bubbling out—that’s a good sign!

Serve and Enjoy!

Remove from the oven and let the roll-ups cool for a couple of minutes before serving (they’ll be very hot inside!). Slice in half for easier snacking and serve with your favorite dipping sauces—ketchup, garlic mayo, or even spicy sriracha if you love heat.

These Garlic Butter Cheeseburger Roll-Ups make a fun dinner with fries and salad, or you can cut them into bite-sized pieces for a party platter. They’re also perfect for Iftar snacks during Ramadan or a weekend family picnic.

Serve your burgers with French fries, a side salad, or potato chips for a complete meal.

Recipe Notes;

  • Don’t skip letting the cooked beef cool slightly before rolling; hot filling can make the tortillas soggy and harder to roll tightly.
  • If your tortillas tend to open while baking, brush a little beaten egg or water along the edge before rolling. This acts like glue.
  • Using both cheddar and mozzarella gives you the best of both worlds: sharp, classic cheeseburger flavor from cheddar and gooey, stretchy melt from mozzarella.
  • For a stronger garlic kick, sauté the minced garlic in butter for 1–2 minutes before brushing. For a milder taste, just mix raw garlic into melted butter as written.
  • Use lean ground beef to reduce the soggy filling
  • You can also fold over the tortilla like a quesadilla instead of rolling.
