My favorite football team from Indonesia was Persib, a football club from Bandung my city. Meanwhile, my favorite football club was Barcelona with Messi and Puyol my favorite team.
I wrote down all the players in the Indonesian Liga until the international competition when Barcelona FC played. It took like 3 am in the morning for my time zone but I set the alarm and watched with my dad. I love those old days. And if I remember that day I should make this beef nachos supreme to accompany I and Dad watch lol. Back then, I just watched football while drinking hot coffee and hot chocolate with biscuits.

Ingredients of Beef Nachos Supreme
Taco Seasoning
You can use store-bought or homemade to season the beef. Here I use
- Chili Powder, Ground Cumin, Ground Paprika, Garlic Powder, and Onion Powder are essential for the spice mixture. This mixes well with other spices like cumin, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Dried Oregano
- Salt and Ground Black Pepper; For seasoning
Other
- Olive Oil; This healthy fat helps to crisp up the tortilla chips when baking.
- Ground Beef; Use 90% lean ground beef if you can; you don’t want a greasy mess on top of your nachos. Otherwise, make sure to drain the meat really well. I like 85% lean for the best balance of flavor. Make sure to drain the ground beef before adding it to the chips to avoid greasy nachos.
- Onion diced; Any kind of onion will work here! White is pretty neutral, and red will add a nice bite.
- 2 bag Tortilla Chips; You’ll need a whole bag of your favorite chips. I prefer Tostitos regular chips because they are tasty, crispy, and large. I use corn flavor
- Water
- Black Beans drained; – One can of refried beans. I usually go for the vegetarian or low-fat variety. You could also use refried black beans.
- Cheddar Cheese shredded; – I like to use a combination of sharp cheddar and jack cheeses. Sometimes I’ll use pepper jack to add some heat and even Mozzarella is great mixed with jack or cheddar. I like to use shredded cheese for nachos supreme because it melts without feeling too heavy.
Garnish
- Red Onion diced and Green Onion; If you are not into onion, you can omit one of them. Red onion and green onion give a nice crunchy and stunning garnish color too.
- Tomatoes are diced; I recommend Roma tomatoes for this recipe. They have a lower water content and have a firmer texture than regular tomatoes, so they’re easier to chop for the nachos.
- Sour Cream; The perfect tangy topper for these loaded nachos supreme. You can’t have nachos supreme without a scoop of tangy sour cream.
Let’s Make Beef Nachos Supreme
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with a parchment paper. This ensures the cheese melts perfectly and the chips get nice and crispy.
Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion. Drain any excess grease.
Season the Beef: Once browned, stir in the taco seasoning packet and a splash of water (optional) to create a slightly saucy consistency. You can also add diced bell pepper or chopped tomatoes at this stage for extra flavor and texture.
Prepare the Nachos: Spread a single layer of tortilla chips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (optional, but helps prevent sticking).
Layer the Toppings: If using refried beans, spread a thin layer over the chips. Then, top with half of the seasoned ground beef mixture. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
Bake and Melt: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Once the cheese has melted and the edges of the chips have begun to crisp, Remove the nachos from the oven and immediately top with your desired garnishes like diced red onion, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and chopped green onions. Serve hot and enjoy!
Recipe Notes;
- Spice it Up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chopped chili peppers to the ground beef mixture for a little extra kick.
- Double Up: Make a larger batch by using two baking sheets and doubling the recipe ingredients.
- Leftovers: Leftover cooked beef can be used in other dishes like tacos or burritos.
- Cheese Options: You can substitute cheddar cheese with Monterey Jack cheese, queso fresco, or a blend for a different flavor profile.
- Customize: Feel free to add other toppings like sliced jalapenos, olives, or guacamole.
