You know Oreos are delicious all on their own, but it amazes me what you can do with any dessert when you add some Oreos to it.
Vanilla, Cookies n Cream
Vanilla ice cream is the base that launched 1,000 variations, but it often plays second fiddle to the mix-ins. We think vanilla ice cream should be able to stand alone; this one can. It’s kind of flavors that will always be “standards” – favorites that we come back to again and again. Cookies n Cream Ice Cream (aka, Oreo Ice Cream) is one of them.
You always complain that cookies-and-cream ice cream never has enough cookie pieces. Now, you can make it with all the pieces you want. Whatever the reason, this is our house’s newest favorite ice cream.
I guarantee you will be so proud of yourself when you take a bite of this delicious homemade dessert. While Scooping those creamy spoonfuls into your mouth and biting down on those chunks of Oreo cookies is one of life’s greatest pleasures.
This ice cream gets its creaminess simply from milk and cream. Whole milk is highly recommended for the creamiest texture possible. When the mixture is allowed to churn in a freezing-cold ice cream maker, cold air is worked into the mixture with every churn. The end result is a decadently rich ice cream that will set up beautifully.
An old Ice Cream Machine
So, a couple days ago a friend of my husband came home. After not having met, and chatting for a long time, finally they met and hung out. They laughed and told about the old uni days. So happy and relief to see my husband meet with his good friend. Short long story, Rico, was bringing his old ice cream machine. Rico said that his father was selling ice cream but no longer. Because my husband told him that I like cooking, baking, and making some content. So Rice brings the ice cream machine.
I have no idea what model it is, but the color is silver with one bowl placement. It is quite heavy to bring. Thank you Rico such very nice of you.
If you see, my post about homemade ice cream actually all of them with the no-churn method, because I would say that the easiest method.. until this thing come. Let’s see what will happen after I use this old ice cream machine.
Moreover, Here’s a quick guide to use use an ice-cream maker For an easier and faster way to make ice-cream,
Basic ice-cream maker has a removable bowl that you freeze overnight. The mixture freezes as it touches the bowl and a paddle scrapes it from the side, churning it into ice-cream in about 30 minutes. This has an internal compressor so there’s no need to pre-freeze the bowl, which is ideal if you want to make several batches in one go. Once the custard is chilled, your ice cream is ready to eat within about 45 minutes.
So, let’s move to the ingredients and how we make these Cookies n Cream Ice Cream!
What Inside of Cookies n Cream Ice Cream
- Whole Milk; milk is an essential ingredient, it adds sweetness and contributes to the creamy texture. this is where you get your sweetness, and keep it from being gritty. Whole milk is best for ice cream, although you can compensate for lower fat percentages by decreasing the milk a bit and adding some extra cream to make up for it.
- Heavy Cream; Note that this recipe uses a bit more heavy cream than my classic no-churn ice cream; this is to balance the sweetness and bulk of the Oreos. It also provides creaminess and richness to the ice cream
- Egg Yolk; you can skip the egg too, I add some to add tender texture, since I will use an Ice cream maker
- Granulate Sugar; gives just the right amount of sweetness in combination with the Oreos.
- Vanilla Extract A splash of vanilla is a must for Oreo ice cream! If you have some homemade vanilla extract, feel free to use it here
- Crushed Oreo Cookies; I use traditional Oreos here, but you really can use any flavor of Oreo in this Oreo ice cream. Peanut butter or mint Oreos would be great alternatives. Regular Oreos work great
