No oil and flour are needed, So it’s healthier and toddler-approved! They also stay crunchy for a few hours, you can make them ahead of time.
This recipe is perfect for all holiday gatherings. Any time I make these they fly off the table, and people can never stop raving about them. It makes for a great appetizer and/or snack, and only potatoes and seasoning ingredients!
What is bubble potato?
Crispy bubble potatoes also known as Potato pillows, are soft, pillowy mashed potatoes encased in a golden brown pillow-like outer shell. A perfectly creamy pillow center with a crunch! This is a new viral TikTok trend lately.
It’s a delightful bite with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. Bubble potato chips have a unique shape and are a popular and fun snack. The potatoes puff up when fried and are completely hollow inside, much like a bubble. They come out super crispy tasty and easy to make at home.
Meanwhile, my recipe is more crispier than a hollow on a center, it only needs potatoes no added flour, and without frying, because I use the oven. You can always use an air-fryer too.
Super Easy and healthy snack
I love how multipurpose and flexible potatoes are, you can always make regular potatoes into something cool and scrumptious. From fries and nuggets to taters, this humble vegetable is a game for makeovers.
As a Crispy potato bubble, it is kid-friendly even toddler or baby-friendly dishes. And of course, they are approved, look at the picture just cute and this is super small very size-bit. Crispy, and crunchy but smooth inside because I mashed the potato first and then baked it.
Maybe the baking process takes a little long way for about 45 minutes, but preparing the ingredients is super easy, you just use the basic seasoning you have in your kitchen. and of course, you can make it in several batches for snacking later.

Ingredients of Crispy Bubble Potato
- Potato mashed; I use a big potato in this recipe. Truly, any potato could be used in this recipe, potatoes are loaded with gut-friendly fiber and potassium for healthy blood pressure. And, of course, energy-producing carbs
- Salted Butter; to add moisture and give that smooth texture inside.
- Seasoning; Salt, Black pepper, and (optional) Mushroom stock Powder or MSG for seasoning the potato dough. It’s also fine to add garlic powder for extra flavor or chili flakes for extra spiciness.
Some recipes use flour such as all-purpose flour and cornstarch, but I’m not using any, and believe me, this is still crunchy because I bake it so no oil is needed too. Much more healthy!
How to Make Crispy Bubble Potato
To begin, preheat your oven to 347 °F.
Next, wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into small cubes. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the potato cubes. Cook the potatoes until they are tender, occasionally testing with a fork to ensure they are fully cooked.
Once the potatoes are ready, mash them until smooth. For an even creamier texture, consider passing the mashed potatoes through a sieve. Also, Strain the mashed potatoes while they are still warm to make it easier. Use a spatula to press the potatoes through a fine-mesh strainer.
Incorporate butter, salt, and a pinch of black pepper into the mashed potatoes, mixing thoroughly until everything is well combined.
Prepare a piping bag and fill it with the potato mixture. On a baking sheet lined with baking paper, pipe the mixture into round shapes resembling bubbles.
Finally, place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 45 minutes at 347°F. Enjoy your deliciously baked mashed crispy potato bubbles while warm and crispy!
