I’m not using any substitution for this all-purpose flour, but I’m pretty sure you can swap it with almond flour, or gluten-free flour too,
  • Cornstarch: Cornstarch adds tenderness and a delicate texture to the pastry. It helps to create a crispy, flaky crust. ; for add a little chewy texture but not too much
  • Sugar: A small amount of sugar balances the flavors and adds a touch of sweetness.
  • Salt: Salt enhances the overall flavor of the pastry.
  • Vegetable Oil: The oil helps to create a flaky, layered texture and prevents the dough from sticking. to avoid sticking into the pan and parting apart from each other from the kataifi
  • Water: To make the kataifi batter mix with cornstarch and all-purpose flour and add some water

Let’s Make Kataifi from the starch

First, Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, sugar, and salt to ensure they are well combined.

Secondly, add the vegetable oil and water to the dry ingredients. Whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth and free of lumps.

Next, prepare the Piping Bag: Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a small, round tip.

Then, heat a non-stick pan over low heat. Now, gently squeeze the piping bag, creating a zig-zag pattern of thin, delicate strands of batter across the pan.

Cook the Strands: Once the batter hits the hot pan, it will instantly cook and form crispy, golden-brown strands.

Carefully remove the cooked kataifi from the pan using a spatula. Transfer it to a plate or tray to cool. Repeat the Process until all the batter is done

How To Make Kataifi From Scratch

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup All-purpose Flour
  • ⅔ cup Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Mix well dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl with a whisk. Add cooking oil and water and whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. Sieve the batter into a piping bag and heat a non-stick pan over low heat. Cut the piping bag very small so that it will make a thin kataifi.

  3. Gently squeeze the piping bag and make a zig-zag motion starting from the side of the pan to the other side of the pan.

  4. Remove from the pan once the pastry begins to peel off from the pan. Transfer it to a plate and do the process until the batter runs out.
