Creamy, crumble, indulgent, and sweet biscoff milkshake treat. A dessert drink with easy blender ingredientsa and quick. Unique aroma drink with a mixed taste of cinnamon, caramel, vanilla ice cream, milk, and speculoos.

As a snack lover, I want to know the snacks that I buy in detail. Both drink and food, examining the taste, texture, and ingredients are a must to fill my curiosity. Lately, people combine a classic biscuit with sweet food or drinks. The name of the biscuit is lotus biscoff.

Because of this reason, I want to know any pieces of information about this biscuit; the kind, the story, the taste. Plus, I am curious to try the menu variation of the Bischoff.

Many people like the biscoff dessert variations. Besides the biscoff dessert creation, many other dessert creations are famous. You can find the dessert mix with matcha, any flavor of jam, sandwich cream biscuits, cookies, cakes, and others. Now, Lotus Biscoff biscuits are also familiar in Indonesia and the world.

What is biscoff or speculoos?

Speculoos brown in color has a thin shape and crunchy texture with a blend of flavors and aromas of spices. The people of Belgium, the Netherlands, and parts of Germany consume this biscuit usually.

Most speculoos use flour, brown sugar, butter, and spices as ingredients. The spices are cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, pepper, cloves, and cardamom. They make speculoos have a herb and unique aroma. However, some types of Belgian speculoos use little or almost no spice.

In 2007, several Belgian companies started making pasta variants of speculoos. Then, they expand speculoos-flavored around the world. The names are Specula, Cookie Butter, Speculoos, Biscoff Spread, or Speculoopasta.

Speculoos jam has a sweet taste. It tastes like a blend of caramel and gingerbread biscuits. Peanut butter or light brown is an identic color of the speculoos. The consistency of the jam variation is smooth, creamy, or crunchy.

Usually, jam contains biscoff biscuit crumbs and vegetable oil. It is an alternative substitute for chocolate and peanut butter. So delicious eaten with toast, sandwiches, to slices of apples.

History of Biscoff

In 1932, a cake maker in Belgium named Jan Boone Sr. created caramel biscuits with natural ingredients. He named it Lotus. It symbolizes the purity of the lotus flower.

Around the 1950s, Boone started to wrap his homemade biscuits one by one. Then, he sold them. Many cafes and restaurants became customers. According to its customers, Biscoff’s coffee and caramel biscuits are a complete blend that can enhance each other’s taste.

Over the years, Biscoff’s popularity continued to rise and spread far beyond borders to the rest of the world. Coffee connoisseurs around the world ask for Biscoff to accompany their latte or espresso. Not surprisingly, the name Biscoff itself is a combination of Biscuit and Coffee.

Until now, the cake shop is still family-owned for generations in Belgium. Biscoff’s pure ingredients, unique flavor, and crunchy biscuits have recorded around 6 billion biscuits coming out of the family company’s ovens per year. And, many people over the world enjoy it.

Now, let’s try to give magic to change this biscuit becomes a yummy drink!

The Ingredients of
Biscoff Milkshake

  • Vanilla ice cream – to add the creaminess. For the flavor, you can use your favorite ice cream. I use vanilla because enhances the sweet aroma also to the shake.
  • Milk – because it is a milkshake I use whole milk. I think low-fat milk is not mixed with the rich taste of milkshakes. Yet, it comes up to you. Some people use soy milk for dairy-free milk.
  • Biscoff spread – I use biscoff spread for the perfect biscoff cookie butter here. You will get a double hit of biscoff. I opt to use a smooth one, if you like crunchy spread use it. However, I got the crunchiness from the biscoff biscuits.
  • Heavy Cream – It is actually for the topping. But, I add some heavy cream to the milkshake to make it thicker.
  • Sugar – it is optional. If you still need sugar for the different sweets, you can add the sugar.
  • Biscoff Biscuits – give a touch of classic, crunchy, spice, and sweet. You blend it easily. Then, you will get a unique sensation from this milkshake. It likes you eat biscoff without queasy.

HOW TO MAKE
BISCOFF MILKSHAKE

Blend all the milkshake ingredients with a blender until smooth and evenly blend.

After the milkshake is blended, turn off the blender. Set aside.

With a spatula, decorate the inside of the glass with biscoff spread.

Pour the biscoff milkshake into the glass.

In a bowl, whisk heavy cream and sugar until hard peak, then transfer it into a piping bag.

Top the biscoff milkshake with whipped cream then sprinkle with some biscoff crumble and last stick the biscoff biscuits on the whipped cream.

Enjoy!

Recipe Notes of Biscoff Milkshake

  • You can freeze the glass before you use it. It is to make the milkshake cool longer.
  • If the ice cream is still frozen, wait for 5-10 minutes at room temperature to help it easy to mix to the shake.
  • I prefer not to use many ice cubes to make the thick is still creamy.
  • Add the ingredients from the liquid texture to the hard texture one by one. It is to prevent the heavier ingredients settle in the bottom of a blender.
  • Build up the blender slowly if you want to make a smooth texture.
  • Garnish it with heavy cream and biscoff biscuit for a rich and creamy drink.
A fresh milkshake is better than a milkshake made ahead of time.

Come on, with these super easy ingredients and steps, you do not need to make it ahead of time. The milkshake might stay for 6 hours in the refrigerator. Yet, it will be different from the fresh milkshake a few minutes ago.

Why not making Vegan Biscoff Milkshake?

Gratefully, Bischoff spread use vegetable oil in mixing ingredients. So, you simply change the dairy ingredients in this recipe with vegan preferable. You can swap whole milk for soy milk, almond milk, or any non-dairy milk. Also, you can use vegan vanilla ice cream.
