TIPS OF MAKING TEMPEH STEAK (Soy Bean Cake Steak)
- Use firm tempeh. Firm tempeh will hold its shape better when cooking and will not fall apart.
- Cut the tempeh into 1/2-inch thick steaks. This will help the tempeh cook evenly and prevent it from becoming too tough.
- Pound the tempeh steaks to make them thinner and more tender. This will help the tempeh absorb the marinade and cook more quickly.
- Marinate the tempeh steak for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. This will help to flavor the tempeh and make it more tender.
- Use a good quality marinade. The marinade should be flavorful and acidic, which will help to tenderize the tempeh. Some good ingredients to include in the marinade are soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, ginger, and vinegar.
- Don’t overcook the tempeh steaks. Tempeh steak should be cooked until they are browned on the outside and heated through, but they should not be cooked until they are dry and tough.
- Serve the tempeh steaks with your favorite toppings. Some good toppings for tempeh steak include vegetables, rice, or quinoa.
- You can use any type of marinade you like, but a good option is a mixture of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, ginger, and vinegar.
- You can also add other ingredients to the marinade, such as chili powder, paprika, or cumin.
- If you don’t have time to marinate the tempeh steaks you can still cook them, but they will not be as tender.
