Ingredients of Garlic Potato Cheese Ball
- Potatoes are cut into several pieces; I’m a firm believer that starchy potatoes make for the best-mashed potatoes. Try to use any kind of potatoes you have on hand
- Garlic crushed; for a good aroma, you can also use “granulated garlic.” Garlic adds a wonderful savory flavor to the cheese balls. It’s crushed to release its aromatic oils, which infuse the mixture with its distinctive taste.
- Cornstarch; Cornstarch acts as a binding agent, helping to hold the ingredients together and giving the cheese balls a nice texture. It also helps to absorb excess moisture.
- Grated cheese; Grated cheese, such as cheddar or any other melting cheese, adds richness and flavor to the potato mixture. As the cheese melts, it creates pockets of gooey goodness inside the cheese balls.
- Eggs beaten and Egg; You need a whisked egg for the egg wash portion – make sure you give your eggs a really good whisk so you don’t end up with goopy bits stuck to your potato balls. Pro-tip, don’t throw away your eggs after you’re done, you can scramble them up for a quick snack.
- Mushroom Powder; adds umami depth to the cheese balls, enhancing their overall flavor profile. It’s a seasoning that complements the other ingredients well.
- Chili flakes; Adjust the heat level with your desire.
- Salt and Pepper; Seasoning is super important for balance. Try to use freshly cracked black pepper for the best, most intense flavor.
- Mozzarella cheese, dice cutting; I love the mild creaminess of mozzarella, but feel free to swap in your favorite melting cheese instead!
- Breadcrumb; Breadcrumbs coat the outside of the cheese balls, creating a crispy and golden crust when fried. They add texture and help to seal in the flavors of the cheese and potato mixture.
- Cooking oil; For frying
